eleven verifiable world war one veterans continue to witness history unfold through their nearly supercentenarian eyes.

seven of the eleven actually served in combat; thats one per continent, my friends.

henry william allingham, the oldest surviving veteran whose visage appears above, turns 112 today. he represents the sole supercentenarian of the eleven but crush depth surmises that such status means little more than yesterdays newspaper to henry.

just to place his longevity into perspective consider that only one in one thousand individuals who attain 100 years of age - a feat in and of itself - will live to celebrate their 110th journey through the calendar.

happy birthday, henry.

he doesn't look a day over a hundred. is he single?

all joking aside...i admire the fact that you follow the veterans.

my grandfather was a WWII vet. he said he wanted to make it to 100...he died when he was 93.
